Rockdale County only has one city and it is Conyers, Georgia. Conyers lies twenty-four miles east of Atlanta. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 10,689. Of course, being the only city in the county it is also the county seat. By 2009, the reported population was 13,941. The formerly separate town of Milstead is now part of Conyers.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.9 square miles, of which 11.8 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles (1.17%) is water.
