Roswell is a city in north Fulton County and the eighth largest city in Georgia with a population of 88,346 according to the 2010 United States Census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 38.6 square miles, of which 38.0 square miles is land and 0.6 square miles (1.53%) is water. On October 30, 2006, the City of Roswell was named the 18th Safest City in the United States by City Crime Rankings, an annual reference book of crime statistics and rankings published by Morgan Quitno Press. Roswell was selected from 371 cities in the Overall Safest 25 category.
The City of Roswell was founded by Roswell King who came from St. Simons Island, GA in 1836. Roswell King established the Roswell Manufacturing Company and built a mill to harness the power of the local rivers to make textiles.
Roswell officially became a city on February 16, 1854.

The City Hall building was completed in 1991 at a cost of $12 million.
The City has been chosen twice by “Atlanta Magazine” as the best place to live in the Metro-Atlanta area.
The Georgia Municipal Association awarded the City of Roswell the City of Excellence Award in 2003.
